Aberdeen City Mission (ACM) is a Christian Charity founded in 1886. Their mission statement, “expressing the love and life of Jesus Christ by bringing help and hope to those in need and crisis”, summarises its activities.

 

ACM is supported by 16 Churches in the City and has regular volunteer support of more than 50 people, among them Deeside Christian Fellowship Church and many of its members.

 

The main functions focus on a weekly ‘drop in’ (The Haven) at Gerard Street Baptist Church Hall where hot food and drink is served together with a message and music to 50-70 people 47 weeks of the year. Volunteers are available to talk to and to offer a listening ear and/or practical help where possible.

 

ACM run a city outreach in Tillydrone, a deprived area of Aberdeen comprising a care shop and one to one support and have a ‘home maker’ team and beauty therapist serving the community.

 

ACM also has working links with Prison Fellowship, Straight-way (work opportunities for ex-offenders) and Somebody Cares (collection, storage and distribution of food, clothes and furniture).
