junior church
Junior Church caters for children from pre-school (age 3) to primary seven (aged 11 or 12). The classes are organised by age and each class is taught by a team of at least two teachers. There are currently 100 or so children registered in Junior Church with an average attendance of around 80/85 spread over 8 classes.
We follow a Bible based teaching programme based on the Children’s Ministry syllabus published by Kingsway. This programme is supported by high quality teaching materials. Each week the children are given a “take home” sheet which can be used as a focus for further discussion and teaching as a follow up to the lesson.
Classes take place during the second half of both Sunday morning services and include stories, songs, discussion, and craft work. Children are encouraged to develop friendships as they explore together how God’s Word (the Bible) applies to their lives. Our greatest hope is that each of the children will come to experience a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and will grow in their faith in Him.
In addition to the regular teaching programme the children are encouraged to participate in a number of special family services throughout the year including, for example, Christmas, Harvest Thanksgiving and end of session celebrations. Special parties and outings are also organised through the year.
We want the children to know that they are special and valued as individuals. We try to do this in simple ways such as publicly recognising their birthdays each month and encouraging the wider congregation to get to know them, pray for them and encourage them.
